WWE Raw on December 15 centred on the fallout from John Cena’s retirement, with Gunther unapologetically embracing his role as the man who ended Cena’s career.
The show opened with Gunther gloating over his victory at Saturday Night’s Main Event, repeatedly declaring that he made Cena tap out. Rather than delivering a single promo, Gunther repeatedly exited and re-entered the ring, soaking in the hostile crowd reaction each time. Cameras followed him backstage, where he crossed paths with Alpha Academy, R-Truth and Raw General Manager Adam Pearce. When Pearce confronted him about disrespecting Cena’s legacy, Gunther showed no remorse and was ordered to leave the building. He did so after a brief encounter with AJ Styles in the parking lot, punctuating the moment with a mocking “You Can’t See Me.”
The Usos returned to action against The New Day in a competitive tag team match. Despite interference from Grayson Waller, who was ejected from ringside, the Usos survived multiple near-falls and put away Xavier Woods to secure the win.
Backstage tension continued to build around The Vision, with Bron Breakker eager to attack CM Punk ahead of their January 5 WWE World Heavyweight Championship match. Paul Heyman urged Breakker to wait, while Logan Paul enlisted Breakker’s help later in the night.
Chaos broke out in the women’s division as The Kabuki Warriors attacked Iyo Sky and Rhea Ripley. Asuka blinded Ripley with mist, and Sky sacrificed herself to absorb a diving elbow meant for Ripley.
Maxxine Dupri successfully defended the Women’s Intercontinental Championship against Ivy Nile, forcing Nile to submit to a grapevined ankle lock.
Stephanie Vaquer retained the Women’s World Championship via disqualification after Nikki Bella interfered, attacking both Vaquer and Raquel Rodriguez before standing tall.
In the main event, Logan Paul defeated Rey Mysterio after interference from the masked man. CM Punk chased off Bronson Reed and Breakker, but the mystery attacker returned to stomp Mysterio, allowing Paul to win. The masked man unmasked as Austin Theory before Bron Breakker speared Punk to close the show, holding the WWE World Heavyweight Championship high as Raw went off the air.
