WrestleVotes is reporting that WWE is offering “hazard pay” to those assisting with the Crown Jewel show on Saturday.
Word is that an extra $3,000 was on the table for various crew members, although some still refused to fly to Riyadh for the November 7 event.
“Traditionally, that type of incentive has not been offered for standard crew responsibilities. We’re told that several crew members have opted out of making the trip, regardless of the additional compensation. WrestleVotes spoke to two people at WWE who work for the company, and it was relayed that the pay offer was $3,000,” stated WrestleVotes.
The event was originally scheduled for Riyadh Season Stadium in the King Abdullah Financial District but organizers announced on October 28 that it would move to a different venue. It is now scheduled for The Venue, also known as ANB Arena.
On Wednesday, November 4, Yemen’s Houthi claimed it had attacked Riyadh’s international airport although Saudi authorities had not confirmed that report. Today, Saudi Arabia’s military coalition said it had intercepted a missile aimed at Medina, while authorities issued further safety alerts around Yanbu, a major Red Sea oil-export hub, and near the Yemeni border. These incidents are part of the wider conflict involving Iran, the United States and Israel, alongside the renewed fighting between Saudi Arabia and the Houthis.
