A key match on WWE NXT has left the NXT Women’s Championship picture in doubt, with no clear challenger confirmed heading into Stand & Deliver.
On the March 31 Roadblock episode of WWE NXT, Kendal Grey faced Lola Vice in a No. 1 contender’s match to determine who would challenge Jacy Jayne. The bout was a competitive back-and-forth contest, with both competitors trading submissions, counters and near falls throughout.
The finish, however, created immediate confusion. Grey appeared to secure the win with a Northern Lights suplex into a bridging pin, seemingly scoring the three-count. At the same time, Vice had Grey locked in a guillotine choke.
Officials later indicated that Grey had tapped out during the pinfall, creating a split-second overlap between the submission and the pin. Replays shown during the broadcast appeared to support that conclusion, with footage suggesting Grey tapped while executing the move.
The conflicting outcomes left the decision unclear, as one referee counted the pin while another acknowledged the submission, resulting in both outcomes occurring at once.
Shawn Michaels Became Involved In Controversial WWE NXT Finish
As the situation unfolded, Shawn Michaels came to the ring to consult with officials and both competitors. Despite the discussion, no official ruling was announced before the show ended.
The lack of resolution drew a frustrated reaction from the crowd, while the presence of Fatal Influence at ringside added further tension to the segment. With Stand & Deliver set for April 4, WWE now faces a decision on who will challenge for the WWE NXT Women’s Championship, as the No. 1 contender spot remains unresolved.
