A new champion was crowned on this week’s episode of WWE NXT as Zaria captured the NXT Women’s North American Championship.
The title bout saw reigning champion Tatum Paxley put her championship on the line against one of the brand’s fastest-rising stars. Paxley entered the match with considerable momentum after establishing herself as a key figure in WWE NXT’s women’s division following her title win.
Zaria, meanwhile, arrived with championship ambitions of her own. Following the recent main roster call-up of former ally Sol Ruca, Zaria turned her full attention to singles gold and received her opportunity on Tuesday night.
The challenger and champion delivered a competitive contest featuring several near-falls, keeping the NXT crowd firmly invested throughout. Paxley came close to retaining on multiple occasions, but Zaria repeatedly found answers to the champion’s offence.
In the end, Zaria finally put the match away with a devastating F5, scoring the decisive pinfall victory to capture the NXT Women’s North American Championship.
The title win marks the biggest accomplishment of Zaria’s WWE career to date and establishes her as one of the leading stars of NXT’s women’s division. After months of impressive performances, she now has championship gold to show for it.
When Will Zaria Defend Her New WWE NXT Women’s North American Title?
It is not currently known when Zaria’s first WWE NXT Women’s North American Title will take place. However, the NXT Great American Bash pay-per-view is set to take place later this month on June 28 at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando, Florida, and there are already a number of title bouts confirmed for the show, so it would stand to reason to expect the Women’s North American Championship to be on the line at this event.
It remains to be seen, however, whether Zaria will walk into Great American Bash still the champion.
