A new champion was crowned in the main event of WWE NXT Great American Bash on Sunday night.
Following a hard-fought battle, Kendal Grey defeated Lola Vice to capture the NXT Women’s Championship for the first time, bringing Vice’s 85-day reign to an end.
The two competitors delivered a closely contested main event built around striking exchanges and grappling reversals. In the closing moments, Vice connected with a spinning backfist, but Grey quickly recovered and answered with one of her own, sending both women crashing to the mat.
Vice attempted to regain the advantage with another flurry of strikes, but Grey escaped, climbed to the top rope and connected with Shades of Grey to score the decisive pinfall.
The show concluded with Grey celebrating her championship victory alongside Wren Sinclair, who picked up a win over Ariana Grace earlier in the evening.
Vice had won the title at Stand & Deliver on April 4 by defeating Jacy Jayne in a Triple Threat Match that also featured Grey. Grey remained in the championship picture throughout the following months before earning another opportunity by defeating Kelani Jordan in a number-one contender’s match.
