Dave Meltzer has claimed that WWE’s partnership with TNA Wrestling includes a clause giving WWE the option to purchase the company at a pre-agreed price. Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Meltzer stressed that this does not mean WWE will buy TNA, noting that similar purchase options existed in past WWE agreements with several British promotions that were never acquired. The comments came amid discussion about recent TNA departures, including Steve Maclin, and ongoing concerns about TNA’s direction.
Meltzer argued that while the WWE partnership has increased TNA’s exposure, history shows that promotions working closely with WWE can struggle to establish their own stars once WWE talent stops appearing. He added that any potential acquisition decision would ultimately rest with WWE President Nick Khan, while emphasising that the reported purchase option does not guarantee a sale.

Alba Fyre has clarified that she was not released by WWE, explaining that her contract simply expired. Speaking to the Daily Star, Fyre said she knew her deal was coming to an end and had the choice of whether to stay with the company. Because her contract expired naturally, she was not subject to WWE’s usual 90-day non-compete clause and was able to make an immediate surprise return to the independent scene as Kay Lee Ray at a Pro Wrestling EVE event in London on June 5. The clarification ends speculation that she was part of WWE’s post-WrestleMania roster cuts, with Fyre noting that her departure was a contract decision rather than a release.
