A WWE Hall of Famer has admitted they were disappointed after finally getting the singles match they had been requesting from the company, only to learn it would last just a few minutes.
WWE Hall of Famer Brie Bella said she had been pushing for another one-on-one match for some time and was thrilled to be booked to face Lainey Reid on SmackDown. However, her excitement was tempered when she discovered the match had been allocated around three minutes.
Speaking on The Nikki and Brie Show, Brie explained that while she was frustrated, she also understood why WWE had made the decision.
“So, as everyone saw this past Friday Night SmackDown, I finally got a singles match. I’ve been pitching a while to have a singles match; I’ve been wanting it forever. But so when I finally was like, oh, I get a singles match, I was like super excited. When I heard the times, I was bummed.”
Brie cited SmackDown’s return to a two-hour format as the main reason for the limited match time.
“But also, I understand, you know, SmackDown is back to two hours, it’ll be two hours until January. So all of a sudden, when you have all these storylines going on SmackDown, and it’s a three-hour show, and then boom, you get cut down to two hours, you’re back to fighting for TV time, and they’re going to condense a lot of stuff. So a part of me understood it. I mean, obviously, I won’t lie, I was bummed.”
The former Divas Champion admitted she was initially angry when she found out how much time had been allocated to the match.
“I’ll admit, like even when I heard my time before I got to the building, I was like, I was pi*sed. But then I was like, you know what, Brie, look what I got to do for, like, right? Which is so beautiful.”
Brie Bella Said, Despite Her Frustrations, She Would Make The Most Of Her Short WWE SmackDown Match
Rather than dwelling on the situation, Brie Bella said she chose to make the most of the opportunity she had been given.
“You can give me s*** and I’m going to make something out of it, I’ve always been used to obstacles. It’s like I’m the type of person, it’s like, give me lemons, I’ll make lemonade.”
Although Brie would have preferred a longer showcase, she said she remains focused on proving herself whenever WWE gives her the opportunity.
