The praise continues to pour in for the highly acclaimed mask vs. mask showdown between Ludwig Kaiser and Chad Gable at AAA Noche de Los Grandes. With one WWE Hall of Famer branding Chad Gable as the “best wrestler in the world.”
Among the latest to weigh in is WWE Hall of Famer John “Bradshaw” Layfield, who called the match from Monterrey, Mexico, and believes Chad Gable is currently the best wrestler in the world. Speaking on Busted Open Radio, JBL was effusive in his praise for both competitors following the bout, which saw Kaiser defeat Gable before the Original El Grande Americano removed his mask and revealed his identity.
“I think Chad Gable’s the best wrestler in the world,” Layfield said. “And I don’t think it’s close. That was absolutely amazing, what he and Kaiser did.”

JBL Also Heaped Praise On Chad Gable’s Opponent, Ludwig Kaiser
While Chad Gable earned significant praise, JBL was equally complimentary of Ludwig Kaiser and the work he put into making the El Grande Americano character resonate with fans in Mexico.
“Kaiser created all this,” Layfield said. “Kaiser created all this by learning the language. Not just learning the language, he was learning the local dialect, which was absolutely amazing, what he’s done.”
The WWE Hall of Famer also credited the passionate Monterrey crowd for helping elevate the atmosphere surrounding the match.
“Mexican fans are just passionate fans,” Layfield said. “They love their lucha libre, and they love their stars, and they get into things.”
The rivalry between Kaiser and Gable has become one of wrestling’s most talked-about stories in recent months, culminating in a match that many fans and industry figures have hailed as one of the year’s best.
“I thought you saw wrestling at its very best,” Layfield added. “I was absolutely blown away by what they did in the match.”
