A WWE Hall of Famer has revealed how Vince McMahon repeatedly pushed them to appear in Playboy during their WWE run, despite them having no interest in posing for the magazine.
Speaking on an episode of Pod Meets World, Trish Stratus explained that although her on-screen character was presented as a sex symbol, the idea of doing Playboy was never something she considered.
“No. Oh my gosh, it’s just not for me,” Stratus said. “Even though I’m known as a sex symbol, I suppose, it is not me; it is my character. But yeah, no. It was not even an option. I was like, ‘Oh, that is just not me.’”
Stratus recalled that Vince McMahon was persistent, trying for several years to convince her to take part in the photoshoot.
“When Playboy came along, I was like, ‘Absolutely not interested.’ Vince, oh my God, hounded me like crazy. He’s like, ‘It’s a great opportunity.’ They came to me for years and years, and I was like, ‘No.’”
How Many WWE Women Has Vince McMahon Had Appear On The Cover Of Playboy?
There have been seven WWE women who have featured on the cover of Playboy magazine, including the likes of Sable, Chyna, Torrie Wilson, Christy Hemme, Candice Michelle, Ashley Massaro, and Maria Kanellis. Maryse and Taryn Terrell have also posed for Playboy while they worked for WWE, but they were not featured on the covers.
WWE’s partnership with Playboy ended in 2008 as the company transitioned to the PG era.
