There will be no more online play and no more buys soon as the plug is pulled on WWE 2K Battlegrounds.
On February 20th not only are the servers being shut down but the game is being delisted from online stores. If gamers still want a digital copy of the game they have to purchase it before that date.
The game is currently selling for:
- Xbox Store: Regular Edition: $50.00. Deluxe Edition $59.00.
- PlayStation Store: 80% off at $9.99.
- Nintendo Switch Store: Regular Edition: $49.99. Deluxe Edition: $59.99.
- Steam: 80% off at $9.99.
We reviewed the game here: WWE Battlegrounds has the best of both worlds back in 2020 saying: “This is the first time in nine years that there isn’t an annual WWE 2K title to look forward to. That could be a good thing though not only allowing 2K developers to get their ducks in order after Yuke’s dropped out of the WWE 2K series but Battlegrounds could be a 2K’s saving grace giving fans another option and another franchise to look forward to. If you can go with the flow and understand that Battleground is an alternative take on the WWE universe and of WWE 2K, Battlegrounds is certainly worth the $50 price tag.”
Battlegrounds was released after an awful WWE 2K20 stunk up the gaming world in 2019 and the 2K series was put on hiatus as the development team got their stuff together. It was much like WWE All-Stars in that it is an over-the-top arcade experience.
Also, word is that the WWE 2K24 servers are shutting down on March 31, 2026 and the WWE 2K25 servers will shut down on March 31, 2027.
