WWE and TKO are looking to steal a page from the NFL’s playbook.
Word is that the performance by Quavo at Sunday Night’s Main Event is a test to see how extended musical performances go over at WWE events.
WrestleVotes Radio reports that the idea is to “enhance the overall experience for fans in attendance while also serving as somewhat of a soft launch for testing the waters on incorporating musical performances into larger WWE events going forward.”
If all goes well, some WWE Events could incorporate musical half-time shows.
“The long-term vision, we’re told, is something comparable to halftime performances in major sporting events — a musical spectacle that can become another attraction within the overall presentation of a big show when the appropriate city and atmosphere come together,” states WrestleVotes.
At Sunday’s show, Lil Yachty was initially supposed to be performing but WWE decided to put him in the ring against United States Champion Baron Corbin. If Yachty wins, Trick Williams will face Corbin for the title.
