With the Royal Rumble just days away in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, both the men’s and women’s matches are rapidly taking shape as the road to WrestleMania comes into focus.
Cody Rhodes was the first to officially declare for the men’s Royal Rumble, announcing his entry on the January 16 episode of WWE SmackDown after losing the WWE Championship to Drew McIntyre in a Three Stages of Hell match. Rhodes is aiming to become a three-time winner in four years, having already claimed victories in 2023 and 2024.
The January 19 episode of WWE Raw added several major names to the field, including Gunther, 2025 winner Jey Uso, 2006 winner Rey Mysterio, Dragon Lee, and Penta. On the January 23 edition of SmackDown, it was announced that Roman Reigns would return at the Rumble, marking his first appearance in the match since winning in 2015. Solo Sikoa also declared his entry, while Jacob Fatu was added the following night at Saturday Night’s Main Event.
On Monday’s Raw, General Manager Adam Pearce confirmed that Bron Breakker, Logan Paul, Austin Theory, and Bronson Reed would also be entering the match. Later in the show, Je’Von Evans declared himself during a commercial break segment.
Not everyone was able to secure a spot. Finn Balor asked Pearce to be added to the match, but was told that all 30 places had already been filled. A separate vignette teasing the main roster arrival of Oba Femi ended with the Royal Rumble logo, fuelling speculation about his imminent debut.
There is also uncertainty surrounding Mysterio’s status. He reportedly suffered a legitimate injury during Monday’s Raw, and at the time of writing, it is unclear whether he will be medically cleared in time to compete at the Rumble.
The women’s Royal Rumble field has also begun to take shape. The January 19 Raw confirmed entries for Iyo Sky, Rhea Ripley, Roxanne Perez, Liv Morgan, Raquel Rodriguez, Bayley, Lyra Valkyria, and Asuka. Asuka won the Rumble in 2018, Ripley claimed victory in 2023, and Bayley emerged triumphant in 2024.
More names were added on the January 23 SmackDown, including Chelsea Green, Jordynne Grace, Charlotte Flair, Alexa Bliss, Nia Jax, Lash Legend, and Giulia. Flair is a two-time winner, having taken the match in 2020 and 2025.
On Monday’s Raw, Becky Lynch, winner of the 2019 Royal Rumble and current Women’s Intercontinental Champion, officially declared her entry, adding another major name to an already stacked field.
