A WWE Champion has been advertised for this week’s episode of MLW Fusion.
United States Champion Baron Corbin is being advertised for this week’s episode of MLW Fusion, although the match was taped several months before his WWE return. Corbin, who competes in MLW under the name Bishop Dyer, will team with Donovan Dijak and Josh Bishop as The Skyscrapers against Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows of The Good Brothers in a Tennessee Tornado match for the MLW World Tag Team Championship.
MLW’s promotional graphic for the match notably features Corbin with a photoshopped United States Championship over his shoulder.
Corbin captured the title just six days ago, defeating Trick Williams on Night Two of SummerSlam to begin his second reign as United States Champion.
However, Corbin was not a WWE champion when the upcoming MLW match took place. The bout was taped on May 9 in Chattanooga, Tennessee, several months before its scheduled broadcast.
The result has also been known since the spring, with The Good Brothers defeating The Skyscrapers to capture the MLW World Tag Team Championship. MLW regularly tapes episodes of Fusion well in advance of their broadcast dates.
Corbin has continued working with MLW alongside his WWE commitments since returning to the company earlier this year.
Baron Corbin Believes His Time Away From WWE Helped Re-establish His Character
Speaking recently on Busted Open Radio, Baron Corbin credited his time away from WWE with helping him improve several aspects of his game. The former Money in the Bank winner said working without WWE’s resources forced him to push himself harder and helped him rediscover the mentality he had earlier in his career.
That work has already paid off following his return, with Corbin now holding the United States Title once again.
