WWE reportedly stepped in to stop a proposed boxing match that could have seen Logan Paul face an active NFL player.
The former WWE United States Champion recently issued a $1 million challenge to any current NFL player willing to meet him in a boxing ring. Several players responded positively to the idea, including Dion Dawkins, Brock Hoffman, and Kingsley Suamataia.
However, according to Logan Paul, WWE management quickly moved to shut down the idea.
Speaking during a livestream, Paul said a WWE official contacted him directly and instructed him to stop pursuing the potential fight due to concerns about injury risk.
“One, we don’t want you to get injured,” the official reportedly told Paul. “It’s just unnecessary risk, like you don’t know if you slip, you fall. We don’t want to risk any injury… we just would prefer for you not to be boxing.”
How Did Logan Paul React To WWE Blocking His Potential Boxing Match?
Logan Paul pushed back during the conversation, arguing that there was little danger involved and claiming the NFL players interested in the fight were not experienced boxers.
Despite that, the WWE representative reiterated that the company would not approve outside activities unrelated to its programming.
The Maverick ultimately agreed to respect the company’s decision.
“At the end of the day, I’m a WWE Superstar and my loyalty is with WWE,” Paul said. “If I do not have their blessing to do some extracurricular activities that are unrelated to WWE like boxing, as much as I would love to do it, I gotta honor my job and my commitment to my profession.”
