Fans are not happy with Night One of WrestleMania.
Beyond what they thought of the matches themselves viewers are furious that so much of the show was devoted to ad spots rather than wrestling.
Night One clocked in at 3 hours and 55 minutes in total.
Of that time, 1 hour and 23 minutes was devoted to matches.
That leaves a massive 2 hours and 32 minutes for ad breaks and various cutaways, ring entrances and other segments like the Hall of Fame introductions.
Fans expressed their frustration online:
– Ads after ads after ads…
– Insanely short matches
– Too many celebs
– One of the worst main events of all timeNight 1 of WrestleMania 42 was an absolute disaster.#WrestleManiapic.twitter.com/xhWKPUFDrz

Anyone else notice how short the matches are tonight?
7 min
14 min
8 min
8 min
15 min
9 minThat’s barely over an hour of wrestling on a 3+ hour show. The rest is ads and segments. That’s really odd for WrestleMania, even by WWE standards. pic.twitter.com/dBKgKVFgUp

no backstage segments, no pre match video packages, no elaborate stage set up, sub 10 minute matches, commercials on commercials, ads all over the canvas… this isn’t the wrestlemania i grew up loving.

The problem WWE has created with the sheer abundance of ads they’ve shown tonight, is that the matches are ridiculously short for a #Wrestlemania. It’s built like a TV taping to fit the ads, because it would be even more obvious to break away from a match to show the ads.

Hulk Hogan has had more screentime at WrestleMania 42 than most of the wrestlers in actual matches & he isn’t even alive. pic.twitter.com/ty66qWgN16

Nice that they threw in some matches to break up the commercials tonight #WrestleMania
