WWE 2K26 is set to overhaul its MyFaction mode in a significant way, with developers promising faster gameplay, expanded match options and new strategic elements designed to keep players engaged throughout the year.
The trading card-inspired mode, similar in concept to NBA 2K’s MyTeam, sees players build a roster of superstars and strengthen it through MyFaction Points or VC purchases. For the March 13 release, with early access beginning March 6, Visual Concepts is introducing several key additions.
Speaking to VideoGamesChronicle, WWE 2K26 product owner Terrell Carter and MyFaction associate designer Brian Mazique detailed what fans can expect.
One of the headline features is the new Quick Swap match type. Designed to streamline 4v4 bouts, Quick Swap allows players to instantly rotate teammates into a one-on-one encounter without traditional tag mechanics. Carter explained the goal was to create something “a little bit faster, a little bit more direct” after early Faction Wars matches proved frustrating for some players. The mode will feature knockout win conditions, shared special and finisher meters between teammates, and limits on when swaps can occur to prevent abuse.
Intergender matches are also being fully integrated into MyFaction for the first time. Rather than separate male and female teams, players will largely be able to build one unified faction, with only occasional match-specific restrictions. Carter confirmed the change applies across the board.
Faction Wars itself is returning with adjustments, including randomised Starter Decks and new modifiers designed to influence each run. Meanwhile, World Tour mode will also return, with Carter noting that content will be broken into smaller, more frequent updates after lessons learned from last year’s rollout.
What Did The WWE 2K26 Developers Say About Microtransactions In MyFaction?
The developers also addressed concerns about monetisation tied to Live Events. Carter said the aim is to avoid making purchases feel mandatory, instead offering added value to those who spend while ensuring cards eventually become directly accessible through the in-game Card Market. Mazique pointed to Encore events and market availability as safeguards against players feeling forced to rely solely on pack luck.
Another major addition is Faction Chemistry. Each card will now feature personality traits that can create positive or negative team effects depending on how well a four-person line-up synergises. Strong chemistry may boost teamwork bonuses, while poor chemistry could even lead to teammates refusing tags during matches. The system is intended to add strategy beyond simply selecting the four highest-rated cards.
Finally, Carter confirmed that Elite action figure Persona cards will return in WWE 2K26, hinting that the concept of a toy-inspired spin-off game has at least been discussed internally.
