Mexican wrestling legend Blue Demon Jr. is in intensive care after being involved in a serious car crash.
The independent Mexico-based promotion IWRG reported that the 59-year-old masked wrestler was involved in a serious car accident and will not be able to compete at their upcoming event on October 30. The accident occurred in the early hours of Monday morning, and Blue Demon Jr.’s injuries were severe enough that he was admitted to the intensive care unit of the hospital.
An update was provided to Demon Jr.’s Instagram page last night, stating that he is:
“Stable and out of danger, although he is in intensive care receiving the necessary medical attention and monitoring.”
What Is Blue Demon Jr. Best Known For In Wrestling?
Blue Demon Jr. is probably best known in wrestling for being the first Mexican and second masked wrestler to win the NWA World Heavyweight Championship. He made his debut in 1985 for the UWA, and then would go on to work for EMLL/CMLL, AAA, NWA, PWR, and Luch Underground. He continues to wrestle for AAA and other independent promotions despite being 59 years old. His last match before his accident took place on October 26, where he teamed with El Rayo de Jalisco Jr. and Tinieblas Jr. to defeat the team of Cien Caras Jr., Dr Wagner Jr. and El Hijo del Solitario.
