The local wrestling community in New Jersey is gathering together to honor Balls Mahoney.
ECW legend Balls Mahoney passed away 10 years ago of a heart attack at 44 leaving behind an eight-year-old son, Chris.
To honor his friend’s memory, ECW alum Jason Knight and his wife Desiree Knight are putting together “Balls Mahoney Memorial Battle Fest”. The goal of the charity event is to set-up a college fund for Chris. Battle Fest will be headlined by a battle royal.
“We’re trying to do this in the Asbury Park area because that’s where he’s from,” Desiree Knight told the Asbury Park Press. “The wrestlers are going to do this pro bono — it’s very admirable. My husband is bringing a ring up. Everything from ticket sales is going directly to Chris’ college fund.”
Desiree called Chris “a very smart kid who wants to go to school for computer science.”
“He’s been without his father for 10 years, so his father’s friends and colleagues really want to do this,” she said revealing they are still looking for a venue for the event.
