With John Cena set to wrestle his final match on next week’s Saturday Night’s Main Event in Washington, D.C., some fans have questioned whether Vince McMahon will appear to witness the end of one of WWE’s defining careers.
Despite the long-standing relationship between the two, it appears that Vince McMahon is not expected to attend. According to Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer, the chances of McMahon being present are “increasingly unlikely, not impossible, but unlikely.” While there remains a little possibility, there is no indication that WWE is preparing for or expecting an appearance from the former chairman.
McMahon has not appeared on WWE programming since June 2022, when he introduced Cena during the celebration of his 20th anniversary on Monday Night Raw. That moment, which now looks to be his final on-screen WWE appearance, would fittingly bookend Cena’s long and historic run with the company.
When DId Vince McMahon Retire?
Vince McMahon announced his retirement from WWE on 22 July 2022, stepping down from all corporate and creative positions following ongoing investigations into misconduct allegations. WWE confirmed the news publicly the same day, marking the end of his decades-long role as the company’s central figure.
Although he briefly returned in early 2023 in a boardroom capacity, he resigned completely from WWE and TKO in January 2024, which is regarded as his final and full departure from the organisation.
