Will Ospreay is set to return to NJPW competition, marking his first match in Japan in over two years.
Will Ospreay will team with United Empire stablemates Great-O-Khan and Henare in a six-man tag match at Sakura Genesis on April 4. The trio will face Yuya Uemura, Taichi, and El Desperado on the card.
The match continues Ospreay’s gradual return to action following neck surgery in 2025, which kept him sidelined for several months. He made his in-ring comeback at AEW Revolution and followed it up with a win over Blake Christian on Dynamite.
Ospreay is also scheduled to face Jon Moxley at AEW Dynasty next month, as he looks to build momentum across both promotions.
Will Ospreay Wanted To Return To NJPW While He Was Injured
During his time away, Will Ospreay stated that while AEW remains his primary home, he hoped to continue making appearances for NJPW on a limited basis. He previously appeared at New Year Dash 2026, where he had a tense interaction with United Empire’s new leader, Callum Newman.
Sakura Genesis will take place at Sumo Hall in Tokyo, with the main event set to see Newman challenge Yota Tsuji for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship after winning the New Japan Cup.
