WWE reportedly had a specific reason for crowning Stephanie Vaquer as Women’s World Champion at a live event rather than waiting for a televised show.
Stephanie Vaquer defeated Liv Morgan to capture the Women’s World Championship at WWE’s recent event in Santiago, Chile, making the title change in Vaquer’s home country. The decision surprised some fans given the championship’s significance, but WWE reportedly saw the location as an opportunity to create a memorable moment.
Speaking during a Q&A session, WrestleVotes via Fightful Select reported that WWE wanted to reward Vaquer by having her capture the championship in front of the Chilean crowd.
“For Stephanie to go over where she did was simply based on location. They had the moment right there, and they didn’t want to squander that moment, so they did a good job of figuring out how to get there with Becky Lynch involved,” TC Votes said. “They wanted to reward Stephanie Vaquer in her hometown. That’s the reason she is the new champion.”

Becky Lynch played a significant role in the championship change after being appointed special guest referee for Vaquer’s match against Morgan.
Morgan appeared to have Vaquer beaten at one stage, but Lynch refused to count the pinfall. That gave Vaquer an opportunity to recover before eventually defeating Morgan and capturing the Women’s World Championship. Vaquer addressed the crowd following her victory and reflected on her journey to WWE.
“18 years ago I was up there dreaming of becoming a WWE Superstar. Dreams are not impossible,” Vaquer said. “This seemed impossible, but we’re going to keep making history because Chile f**king changed!”
Vaquer later appeared as champion on Monday Night Raw in Mexico City, where Rey Mysterio introduced her. Her issues with Morgan continued during the show, while Lynch also put Vaquer and her newly won Women’s World Championship on notice.
