Former WWE head writer Vince Russo has cast his prediction as to who he thinks will face John Cena in his final WWE match.
John Cena is set to have his final WWE match ever at Saturday Night’s Main Event on December 13, and there is currently an ongoing tournament to decide who will face him in his last match at the event.
The participants left in the tournament are Carmelo Hayes, Bronson Reed, Finn Balor, Penta, Solo Sikoa, Gunther, LA Knight, Jey Uso, Rusev, and Sheamus, and there are two quarter-final matches taking place on Raw tonight as Gunther faces Carmelo Hayes, and Solo Sikoa takes on Penta.
However, speaking on an episode of Coach and Bro, Vince Russo stated that he hopes Cena’s last opponent is someone else entirely, and that he hopes Cena faces Brock Lesnar one more time before he retires.
Russo said that he is hoping that whoever wins the tournament will enter Saturday Night’s Main event, and before the match can take place, Lesnar arrives and takes them out to insert himself into Cena’s last match. He said:
“I’m still holding out that whoever wins the tournament. Brock Lesnar’s going to take them out, and Brock Lesnar’s going to have the match with Cena. I’m still holding out for that, Coach.”
What Did Vince Russo Say About John Cena’s Retirement Year?
Vince Russo expressed his disappointment with John Cena’s retirement year and said that he thinks Cena deserved a lot better, as he thinks that the creative decisions the WWE have made so far have been sub-standard.
Russo said that Cena’s last Raw appearance in his home state of Massachusetts on November 10, where he won the Intercontinental Championship from Dominik Mysterio, should have been built up a lot more than it was.
