Former WWE head writer Vince Russo has announced his departure from Juggalo Championship Wrestling after nearly a year with the promotion.
Vince Russo confirmed the news on social media after receiving questions about his status with JCW in recent weeks. The 65-year-old had been working as an investor and creative showrunner for the promotion’s weekly Lunacy programme. Russo admitted that he had been unhappy with his position for some time and eventually decided that something needed to change.
“For those of you who know me, you know I don’t hide from the truth, I don’t avoid the truth and I certainly don’t lie about the truth,” Russo wrote. “The reason for my silence was that . . . I just didn’t know. I just needed some time. I’d been unhappy for a while in [JCW Lunacy] and I’m not going to deny that. Something had to change.”
Vince Russo And JCW Amicably Part Ways
Vince Russo explained that several factors drove his decision, including how much he has changed since his most prominent years in professional wrestling.
“Things have changed, life has changed and more importantly . . . I’ve changed,” Russo wrote.
Russo later spoke with Violent J, and the two sides agreed to end their working relationship.
“A short while ago I had a phone conversation with Violent J and we have amicably agreed to part ways,” Russo said. “Hey man, it was supposed to be for a few weeks, maybe a couple of months, but we KILLED IT for an entire year. So now . . . it’s time to move on. What the future holds . . . we shall see.”
Despite admitting he had been unhappy, Russo spoke positively of those he worked alongside during his time with JCW.
“I’d like to thank Violent J—one of the kindest, gentlest, most creative souls I have ever met in my life, the [JCW Lunacy] locker room—who treated me with the utmost respect, and the entire crew who worked their ARSES off every day,” he added.
Russo joined Juggalo Championship Wrestling in October 2025 as an investor and member of the creative team. In addition to his behind-the-scenes work, he made several on-screen appearances for the promotion during his run.
