The Undisputed is reporting that Vince McMahon made a play for the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship promotion.
Justin Barrasso reports that BKFC’s founder and president David Feldman confirmed the news to him.
“He’s a great guy, his whole team is great, but the timing wasn’t right for us. He’s Vince McMahon–if I were him, I’d want creative control, too. He was awesome, very complimentary, and he was very serious to do business,” said Feldman citing that McMahon wanted creative control but Barrasso wasn’t prepared to offer that.
Barrasso also states: “Speaking with several executives in combat sports and pro wrestling, the belief is that McMahon will ultimately find himself involved again in professional wrestling, an industry he revolutionized over the last 40 years. There is no denying that major investors would be more likely to invest money in a McMahon-led project that is centered around wrestling.”
McMahon’s new company, 14TH & I, is described as a “a disciplined, flexible, long-term capital and strategic partner, primarily targeting buyouts/majority deals, as well as selective growth-oriented minority investments. We seek to partner with and empower exceptional management teams, providing deep expertise, capability, and relationships to help drive significant long-term value.”
Earlier this month, Shane McMahon stated that his father has no interest in working a deal with WWE.
“You never know what’s going to happen out there. Of course, anything can happen in WWE but those rumors are false…If you know my dad, he’s gung ho, always doing the next thing and that’s what he’s focused on,” he said.
