New details have emerged on the contract status of a new WWE signing for 2025.
Jeff Cobb left NJPW earlier this year and immediately aligned with Solo Sikoa upon joining WWE, being renamed JC Mateo. According to a new report from Fightful Select, he signed a three-year deal that will keep him with the company through spring 2028.
His NJPW exit caused controversy at the time, as he was one-half of the IWGP Tag Team Champions with Callum Newman. The titles were subsequently vacated on April 14, and Cobb wrestled his final New Japan match on April 19 against Hiroshi Tanahashi.
Cobb made his WWE debut at Backlash, helping Jacob Fatu retain the United States Championship against LA Knight. His name was later changed to JC Mateo, and he became part of Sikoa’s MFT group alongside Tama Tonga, Tonga Loa and Talla Tonga.
On the latest episode of SmackDown, the MFTs confronted The Wyatt Sicks. A brawl followed, leaving Erik Rowan and Talla Tonga alone in the ring until Rowan booted Talla to the floor.
Is Jeff Cobb Related To Any Of The Bloodline In WWE?
No, Jeff Cobb is not biologically related to any of the Bloodline members in WWE, as Solo Sikoa’s new Bloodline, called MFT, consists of members of the Anoa’i family, but Jeff Cobb was born in Honolulu, Hawaii and has no relation to any of the Samoan wrestling families.
Cobb got his wrestling start in Hawaii before joining Lucha Underground in 2014. He joined NJPW in 2017 and established himself as one of the company’s top stars before joining WWE in 2025.
