An update has been provided on the ongoing rumour that Adam Copeland could be facing John Cena in his final WWE match at Saturday Night’s Main Event.
Since John Cena’s retirement tour was announced, fans have speculated that AEW’s Adam Copeland could return to WWE to face John Cena in one of his last matches. But, as Cena’s retirement date of December 13 looms ever closer, there has been no appearance by Copeland.
However, since the “Last Time is Now” tournament was announced and Cena said in the vignette announcing the tournament that “guys who don’t even work here” could show up in the tournament, more rumours have been swirling that Copeland could make an appearance in the tournament.
Now, Sean Ross Sapp via Fightful Select Answers has addressed these rumours and put them to bed by stating that there have been “no conversations, and no conversations about conversations” regarding Copeland coming back to WWE for a one-off appearance. Sapp said that because Copeland is under contract with AEW, Tony Khan wouldn’t allow one of his stars to appear on their rival’s TV program, and there is no possibility of it ever happening.
Why Has Adam Copeland Been Away From AEW?
Adam Copeland has not been seen on AEW TV since the September 24 episode of AEW Dynamite in a pre-taped segment from All Out on September 20, where he spoke to Christian Cage and said that he would be leaving for a while to take care of his family and was unsure when he’d be back.
It has since been reported that the reason Copeland has been away is to film his scenes for season 3 of the Disney+ series ‘Percy Jackson and the Olympians’.
