An update has been provided on Rey Mysterio‘s Royal Rumble status following his injury scare on Monday’s episode of WWE Raw.
Rey Mysterio appears to be en route to Saudi Arabia ahead of this weekend’s Royal Rumble, despite recent concerns over his health. Mysterio shared a photo on Instagram showing himself travelling alongside Penta and Dragon Lee. The trio were pictured unmasked aboard a plane, with their faces partially covered in the image.
The post comes days after reports that the WWE Hall of Famer suffered a legitimate injury during the January 26 episode of WWE Raw. While Mysterio is scheduled to compete in the Royal Rumble match alongside Penta and Lee, there has been no official confirmation from WWE regarding whether he has been medically cleared to take part.
All three men have declared for the Royal Rumble, which takes place this weekend in Riyadh. However, Mysterio’s status remains uncertain following the in-ring scare on Raw.
At the 2025 Royal Rumble, Mysterio and Penta began the match as the first two entrants. Penta lasted more than 40 minutes, while Mysterio was eliminated after 24 minutes.
The 51-year-old veteran has already dealt with significant injury issues over the past year. He missed several months of action in 2025 after suffering a groin injury in April, just before WrestleMania 41, and only returned to regular competition in November.
Whether Mysterio will be able to compete in this year’s Royal Rumble is expected to become clearer as the event approaches.
When Did Rey Mysterio Win The Royal Rumble?
Rey Mysterio won the Royal Rumble match in 2006, outlasting 29 other competitors to earn a World Championship opportunity at WrestleMania 22.
His victory was dedicated to the late Eddie Guerrero, and remains one of the most emotional Royal Rumble wins in WWE history. Mysterio went on to win the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 22, defeating Kurt Angle and Randy Orton in a Triple Threat match.
