Dominik Mysterio is expected to be sidelined for the foreseeable future following an injury sustained earlier this month.
During Monday night’s episode of WWE Raw, Liv Morgan revealed in a backstage segment that Dominik Mysterio would be stepping away from action, with commentary later confirming the situation. Joe Tessitore noted on the broadcast that Mysterio is dealing with a shoulder injury and will be out indefinitely.
The injury occurred at AAA Guerra de Titanes on December 20, where Mysterio teamed with El Hijo del Vikingo to face Rey Mysterio and Rey Fenix. According to Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer, Mysterio was visibly limited following the match and struggled to use his arm afterwards. Dave Meltzer later added further context, explaining that Mysterio was scheduled to be examined to determine the severity of the injury.
“He was hurting today, and he’s going to get examined,” Meltzer said. “There’s no TV until a week from Monday, so he’ll likely be checked by a doctor there to see what’s wrong with his shoulder. It’s premature to say anything about the severity. Shoulder injuries are common, and that’s usually not a good thing. Hopefully he doesn’t need surgery, because that would put him out for months. Right now, we just don’t know.” h/t to WrestlingNews.co
Mysterio currently holds both the WWE Intercontinental Championship and the AAA Mega Championship, making his absence particularly significant for both promotions. No timetable has been announced for his return, and WWE has yet to confirm how long he is expected to be sidelined.
