The office of the Mayor of London has clarified that there are currently no specific negotiations taking place to bring WrestleMania to the city in 2028.
The update comes after years of fan speculation that London could host WrestleMania, particularly following comments by John Cena at Money in the Bank 2023, calling for the event to take place in the United Kingdom.
Speaking to POST Wrestling, Tom Degun of the Mayor of London’s Press Office confirmed that discussions with WWE are ongoing, but stressed that there is no active bid specifically tied to WrestleMania 2028.
“There are general discussions with WWE, but at present no specific discussions around bringing the 2028 WrestleMania to London,” Degun stated.
Degun added that Mayor Sadiq Khan remains interested in bringing major sporting events, including WWE’s biggest shows, to London in the future.
The clarification appears to place London behind Nashville in the race for WrestleMania 44. According to previous reporting from POST Wrestling, the Nashville Convention and Visitors Corp. confirmed that discussions are taking place with WWE regarding a future Mania event.
Speculation regarding WrestleMania 2028 intensified after WWE President Nick Khan reportedly teased a major announcement surrounding the location during a TKO staff meeting earlier this year. The comments led many fans to believe WWE could once again be looking internationally for the event.
Ireland has also recently emerged as a possible long-term contender after Kilkenny councillor Maurice Shortall publicly encouraged the Irish government to pursue a WrestleMania bid. However, financial and logistical challenges reportedly remain significant obstacles for that proposal.
London had previously appeared to be a serious candidate after Sadiq Khan met with Nick Khan and Triple H in 2024 to discuss bringing Mania to the city.
WrestleMania 43 Is Set To Take Place In Riyadh, Saudi Arabia
Before any future international plans materialise, WrestleMania 43 is currently scheduled to take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in 2027, marking the first WrestleMania ever held outside the United States or Canada.
