Both Ryohei Oiwa and Shota Umino have punched their tickets to round two of the New Japan Cup.
In Shota Umino’s match with Chase Owens, Owens pushed Umino into the official. Owens then kicked Umino in the “lower abdomen” and nailed him with the C trigger running knee smash but Umino kicked out of a pin attempt. Owens landed another C Trigger but Umino escaped a Package Piledriver. Umino hit him with a head butt and a lariat for a two count.
Dick Togo entered the ring strangling Umino from behind as Yujiro Tanahashi distracted the official. Umino powered his way out of the choke throwing Togo into Yujiro. Owens grabbed his branding iron to strike Umino. Umino ducked hitting him with as clothesline. He pinned Owens with Second Chapter to move on in the tournament.
Oiwa beat powerhouse Yuto Ice after absorbing a punch to the face and kick to the head. Oiwa caught Ice and he tried his running knee smash. Umino twisted Ice into a fancy roll-up to win.

Uemura catches Nagai with a chop off the ropes and an arm bar submission for the win.

Boltin Oleg & Tomoaki Honma vs United Empire (HENARE & Great-O-Khan)
Khan puts his claw hold on Honma. Sinking to his knees Honma continues to fight it. He eventually has to tap out though. Khan won’t break the hold until a Young Lion and the official jump in.

Goto Revolutionary Army (Hirooki Goto, YOSHI-HASHI & Tatsuya Matsumoto) vs United Empire (Jake Lee, Francesco Akira & Jakob Austin Young)
Young puts the Young Lion Matsumoto away with a DDT as Lee wraps his sleeper submission on Goto on the floor and won’t let go until Young Lions get involved. Lee chases Goto and Hashi to the back attacking Goto from behind and laughing about it.

TMDK (Hartley Jackson & Kosei Fujita) vs United Empire (Callum Newman & Zane Jay)
Jay kicks out of Jackson’s Lariat so he spikes him with a Death Valley Driver for the win. Hey, at least we didn’t have to suffer through Zack Sabre Jr. Newman taunts Jackson after the match getting in his face.

Satoshi Kojima, Toru Yano & Aaron Wolf vs HOUSE OF TORTURE (Ren Narita, Yujiro Takahashi & Dick Togo)
Yano rips off a turnbuckle but Togo rolls him up from behind. Yano kicks out. Yano throw the turnbuckle to Togo who catches it. As he and the official banter, Yano pushes Togo into the uncovered turnbuckle rolling him up for the pin. Kojima isn’t satisfied though. He whips Narita into the ringside barricade.

Unbound Co. (Yota Tsuji & Shingo Takagi) vs HOUSE OF TORTURE (Don Fale & Yoshinobu Kanemaru)
Takagi kicks out of a pin by Kanemaru. Kanemaru literally launches himself at the official taking him out. Kanemaru takes a swig from his whiskey bottle but Shingo punches him in the gut. The whiskey sprays everywhere. Shigo takes a swig, spits the whiskey in Kanemaru’s face pinning him with Pumping Bomber clothesline and Made in Japan.
