Sometime WWE wrestler Bad Bunny and Ronda Rousey were the targets of a vicious verbal attack by UFC fighter Sean Strickland.
During a press conference for UFC Fight Night 267, Strickland had a lot to say about Bunny.
“Like, I mean, look at the NFL, dude. You had that — I don’t even want to say that fa—–‘s name. If somebody gives me his name, you can say his name. I’ll say, you know, I’m talking about the halftime show guy, the Puerto Rican, right? Puerto Rican. Bro, yeah, that f—–g fa—–t! it is so crazy that this is America now,” he began.
He then continued his rant.
“Back in the day, dude, the NFL was the f—–g standard of being a f—–g man, and now every f—–g year, I think they all get together around the table and say, ‘You know, guys, how do we f—–g ruin this sport? How do we f–k it up? How do we f—–g ruin it? Well, I’ll tell you what — why don’t we bring a gay foreigner who doesn’t speak f—–g English and have him perform?’ … It’s like the NFL is f—–g pathetic these days. So even the NFL players probably f—–g hate it. Yeah, no. The NFL is — I think we all agree — it’s gotten real gay lately,” he said.
Bad Bunny was born in Puerto Rico and is an American citizen.
He then made comments about Rhonda Rousey who is scheduled to return to the octagon to battle Gina Carano in an upcoming Netflix event.
“Ronda Rousey can fight. That bitch can fight… I think she lost a few fights to her ex, but bitch can fight,” he said.
He commented on women’s sports in general saying:
“No one gives a f–k about women’s sports….There’s nothing wrong with women. They do great things. They cook, they clean.”
He said of Carano:
“I like Gina. She’s like super conservative. She was hot, you know. I was like a kid when she fought. I may have jerked off to her once or twice back in the day.”
Strickland will face Anthony Hernandez at UFC Fight Night 26.
When the news spread about his comments, Strickland called it a “a corporate conspiracy to destroy America”.
This isn’t the first time Strickland has made controversial comments.
He once stated on X: “If I had a gay son I would think I failed as a man.”
He also said about women’s MMA: “Sure, have women’s MMA, have it be a thing. I don’t like to watch it. I don’t think most people like to watch it. If the female MMA was to separate from the male MMA no-one’s going to watch that shit.”
In 2024, Paramount signed a deal with UFC to bring all numbered UFC events and all UFC Fight Nights, exclusively to Paramount+. It is a $7.7 billion, seven-year deal. It is being reported that Paramount is now facing pressure to address Strickland’s comments.
