WWE crowned two new singles champions during Night Two of SummerSlam, as two new mid-card champions were crowned on last night’s show.
Baron Corbin ended Trick Williams‘ reign as United States Champion after defeating him at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Williams was accompanied to the ring by rapper Lil Yachty, who became involved during the closing moments of the match. Corbin grabbed the championship belt before Yachty intervened, only for Williams to accidentally send the rapper crashing through a table at ringside.
With the distraction creating an opening, Corbin struck Williams with the title belt before connecting with End of Days to score the pinfall and win the championship.
The victory marked Corbin’s first televised match since returning to WWE in July. After leaving the company in November 2024 when his contract was not renewed, Corbin made his comeback last month and has now captured his first championship since returning.
WWE Intercontinental Title Also Changed Hands Last Night At SummerSlam
Later in the evening, Chad Gable defeated Penta to win the WWE Intercontinental Championship, securing his first singles title in WWE. Following a closely contested contest, Gable forced Penta to submit to the Ankle Lock to capture the championship in front of his home-state crowd.
The victory completed a significant journey for Gable, who first faced Penta during the latter’s WWE debut in January 2025. In recent weeks, Gable has also received widespread praise for his performances in AAA before carrying that momentum into SummerSlam.
After the match, Penta showed his respect by placing the Intercontinental Championship around Gable’s waist and raising his hand. Gable was then joined in the ring by his wife, children, and parents as he celebrated the emotional championship victory with the Minneapolis crowd.
The two title changes capped another eventful night at SummerSlam, with Corbin and Gable both leaving Minneapolis as new WWE champions.
