Several notable names could be headed for WWE SummerSlam, including two former world champions and a potentially high-profile first-time matchup.
According to WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select, WWE has internally discussed a match between Jade Cargill and Charlotte Flair for SummerSlam. The report noted that the bout had previously been “penciled in” for the event, although nothing has been officially confirmed.
WWE creative is reportedly waiting for the right moment to stage the first-ever singles match between the two stars, with SummerSlam viewed as a possible destination for the showdown. Cargill and Flair are among WWE’s most prominent female stars, making the match a potentially major attraction if it is ultimately added to the card.
New Report Also States Randy Orton & Drew McIntyre Could Make Their WWE Returns In Time For SummerSlam
The report also provided updates on Randy Orton and Drew McIntyre, both of whom have been absent from in-ring action since WrestleMania 42. According to WrestleVotes, an internal WWE document circulated earlier this month listed both Orton and McIntyre in connection with SummerSlam plans.
While specific creative directions were not revealed, sources reportedly indicated that both men are expected to be available and on track to return in time for the premium live event. Orton has not competed since WrestleMania 42 Night One, while McIntyre has likewise been absent from programming in recent months.
SummerSlam is scheduled for August 1 and 2 at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and is expected to be one of WWE’s biggest events of the year.
No matches have been officially announced for the show, although the winners of the ongoing King of the Ring and Queen of the Ring tournaments will earn world championship opportunities at the event.
