Two former WWE world champions made a surprise return to AEW during Sunday’s Revolution pay-per-view, appearing for the first time since September and targeting the AEW World Tag Team Champions in the process.
The moment came after FTR successfully defended the AEW World Tag Team Championships against The Young Bucks. As FTR and Stokely celebrated in the ring, the arena lights suddenly went out, and the word “Revenge” appeared on the video screen.
Entrance music then played as the returning duo made their way into the arena. While FTR and Hathaway focused on the stage, Christian Cage slipped into the ring from behind and sprayed Cash Wheeler in the eyes before dropping Dax Harwood with the Killswitch. Adam Copeland followed moments later and took Wheeler down with a spear.
The pair then tossed Hathaway out of the ring and briefly picked up the tag team title belts while staring down FTR.
Moments later, The Young Bucks re-entered the ring, leading to a tense four-man standoff between Copeland, Cage, and the Bucks against FTR as the crowd erupted.
When Were Adam Copeland And Christian Cage Last In AEW?
Adam Copeland and Christian Cage last appeared together at AEW All Out in September, where they defeated FTR. After that match, Harwood and Wheeler attacked Beth Copeland with a spike piledriver, leading to Copeland being written off television in storyline.
During his time away from AEW, Copeland has been working on film and television projects while also continuing work on his second memoir.
