Tony Khan has shed new light on his past meeting with Shane McMahon, addressing long-standing speculation about a possible AEW appearance.
Speaking in a recent interview with Jonathan Coachman and Vince Russo on The Coach & Bro podcast, Tony Khan recalled the conversation, which took place in Texas, describing it as a positive but ultimately informal meeting that did not lead to any on-screen plans.
“I had one really pleasant conversation with Shane… we had a nice conversation, and talked for a few hours at the airport,” Khan said.
Khan also addressed the photo from the meeting that later surfaced online, which fuelled speculation about Shane McMahon potentially joining All Elite Wrestling.
“I thought it was really strange that a photo came out from it… I had nothing to do with it,” he said, noting his surprise at how quickly the meeting became public.
Despite the interest generated at the time, Khan made it clear that McMahon was not looking to take on an on-screen role.
“I don’t think the role of being an on-screen person in a wrestling show seemed like the thing he was interested in… I don’t think he went into it thinking I want to be a character on this guy’s show.”
