Tony Khan is excited for the future of one of AEW’s most recent acquisitions.
On the January 28th edition of Dynamite, Tommaso Ciampa made his surprise AEW debut only days after his WWE contract expired. The Psycho Killer immediately made his mark, challenging Mark Briscoe to a TNT Championship match, and then winning the gold on the following episode of Collision.
Since then, Ciampa has already defended the title against Claudio Castagnoli and Roderick Strong in a Three-Way Match, and is set to put it on the line again on February 11th against former champion Kyle Fletcher.
During an appearance on 107.7 The Bone, Tony Khan spoke about the benefits Ciampa brings to the AEW roster, saying there are exciting possibilities for the Blackheart.
“He’s a fantastic wrestler. And to have somebody of his quality come in, instantly he’s additive in AEW.
“We’ve got somebody that’s joined us that can have fantastic matches, whether it’s people he’s lined up against in past wrestling matches, whether it’s an old rival or somebody fresh and new that he’s never been matched up against, there’s so many exciting possibilities for Tommaso Ciampa in AEW.”
Soon after signing with Tony Khan’s promotion, Tommaso Ciampa made it clear he plans to stay with AEW for the next decade. The star told Yahoo! Sports isn’t going anywhere, and taking it a step further, said AEW is his final stop.
