Tony Khan has explained why Chris Jericho has been absent from AEW as of late.
Speaking in an interview with Ariel Helwani, Tony Khan discussed a number of AEW-related topics, and he was asked why we haven’t seen Chris Jericho in AEW since the April 9 episode of Dynamite.
Khan suggested that the reason Y2J hasn’t been around is largely due to the number of contracted days Jericho has, and trying to work around his other commitments. Khan said:
“Some of it comes down to just working out the dates.”
Khan was then asked if he thought Jericho would be back in AEW in the near future, and the company’s President was hopeful that we may see Jericho back in an AEW ring. He stated:
“I hope so. I absolutely hope we’ll get Chris back in. And a star like Chris Jericho, you negotiate a certain number of dates. Chris has always been really great about being one of those wrestlers in AEW that when he’s in, he’s all the way in. And if you think, he’s always really been a full-time part of the show.”
What Did Tony Khan Say About Darby Allin’s 2023 AEW Revolution Glass Bump?
Also in the same interview with Helwani, Tony Khan shared his thoughts on Darby Allin’s 2024 Revolution bump through a glass pane, stating that he thought it was “too much.” During Sting‘s retirement match at AEW Revolution in 2023, Darby Allin set up a glass pane on top of six steel chairs standing in a row outside of the ring and climbed atop a ladder that was inside the ring and planned to dive onto The Young Bucks.
At the last second, Matt and Nick Jackson moved out of the way, and Allin crashed through the glass and chairs back-first in what was a sickening but spectacular bump.
