Tony Khan has once again suggested AEW could run an event in the United States during WrestleMania weekend next year if WWE stages WrestleMania 43 in Saudi Arabia.
Speaking with Q93, the AEW President was asked about the possibility of holding a show in the U.S. while WWE’s biggest event of the year takes place overseas.
“Certainly something to consider,” Tony Khan said. “I get asked that question all the time, so it would make you think that there could be opportunities.”
Khan first raised the idea shortly after WWE announced that WrestleMania 43 would be held in Saudi Arabia, saying AEW could look to fill the gap by running an event for fans remaining in the United States.
Tony Khan Believes AEW’s 2026 Has Been A Very Good Year For The Company
The AEW CEO also praised the company’s current momentum, arguing that 2026 has been an even stronger year than 2025.
“I’m very excited about what AEW is doing right now, and it seems like that momentum and excitement have really caught on all over the world. People are really thrilled with AEW,” Tony Khan said.
“We had a huge 2025, and now we’re having a great 2026. We’ve absolutely capitalized on that momentum, and I think we’re having an even better year this year. We were voted Sports Illustrated’s Pro Wrestling Promotion of the Year in 2025. We won numerous awards from all the top publications for top wrestling promotion, and I think that in 2026, we’re doing even better. So there’s a lot of excitement, and certainly, since you asked, that could be a good possibility.”
Neither AEW nor WWE has announced its 2027 event schedule. However, Khan’s latest comments indicate the promotion remains open to running a major event in the United States during WrestleMania weekend if the opportunity arises.
