AEW President Tony Khan has addressed the possibility of him buying TNA Wrestling amid ongoing rumours that the company is looking to sell.
Tony Khan says he is not actively considering buying TNA Wrestling, despite recent speculation about the promotion’s future. Speaking during AEW’s pre-Forbidden Door media call, Khan was asked by Wrestlenomics’ Brandon Thurston whether he would have any interest in acquiring TNA if it became available.
When Thurston suggested a hypothetical purchase price of $40 million, Khan laughed before giving a blunt response.
“No.”
Khan then expanded on his answer, explaining that while he believes TNA has value, purchasing the promotion is not currently a priority.
He said any potential acquisition would depend entirely on the asking price and admitted it is not something he has had any serious discussions about.
Tony Khan Said He Could Be Interested In TNA At The Right Price
Tony Khan added that TNA could be an interesting opportunity if available at the right price, noting the same could be said of many investments.
Although Khan dismissed the idea for now, he has expanded his wrestling portfolio before. After launching AEW in 2019, he purchased Ring of Honor in 2022 and continues to operate the promotion through the WatchROH streaming service and regular special events.
Earlier this year, court filings also revealed that a company backed by Khan submitted an approximately $6.9 billion bid to acquire WWE during the company’s 2023 sale process, before Endeavor ultimately completed the purchase.
