Toni Storm is expected to be sidelined from AEW for an extended period following a legitimate injury.
According to Bryan Alvarez of the Wrestling Observer, Toni Storm will be out of action for “a long time,” prompting Mina Shirakawa to step in as her replacement on AEW Dynamite. Shirakawa went on to defeat Marina Shafir in Storm’s place.
Storm last competed at AEW Revolution on March 15, where she defeated Shafir in a physical match. The bout was followed by a confrontation with Ronda Rousey, before Shafir struck Storm as the situation escalated.
Toni Storm Was Written Off Of AEW Dynamite In Backstage Segment
Ahead of Dynamite, AEW aired footage of Toni Storm, bloodied, in her locker room, with Mina Shirakawa and Luther attending to her. She had been scheduled to face Shafir in a No Holds Barred match, but was ruled not medically cleared to compete.
The nature of Storm’s injury and her return timeline have not been confirmed, and it remains unclear whether Shirakawa will take her place in upcoming plans.
