Tomohiro Ishii has been pulled from the New Japan Cup due to injury.
New Japan Pro-Wrestling announced that Ishii has sustained a neck injury and will be sidelined for the remainder of the tour. He had originally received a first-round bye in the tournament and was scheduled to face the winner of Ren Narita vs. Taichi on March 12 in Takamatsu.
Satoshi Kojima will replace Ishii in the bracket and will now compete in the second round against the winner of Narita vs. Taichi.
When Did Tomohiro Ishii Last Compete For NJPW?
Tomohiro Ishii last competed this past Friday, where he lost the NJPW Strong Openweight Championship to Oleg Boltin. The injury marks another setback for the veteran, who previously missed time in October after suffering a dislocated shoulder while wrestling for AEW before returning at Wrestle Kingdom 20. NJPW apologised to fans and wished Ishii a full recovery.
