Tommy Dreamer has reflected on some of his proudest moments as TNA’s head of creative, highlighting Naomi’s Knockouts World Championship victory and Jeff Hardy‘s surprise return as two of the most memorable experiences of his tenure.
Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Tommy Dreamer admitted it was difficult to narrow his favourite moments down to just one, but said watching Naomi capture the Knockouts World Championship stood out.
“I would say my favorite moment of everything, man, there are so many, but I was so proud of Naomi,” Dreamer said. “And her becoming the champion that I always knew that woman was.”
Tommy Dreamer Recalled Jeff Hardy’s Surprise TNA Return
Tommy Dreamer also recalled the surprise return of Jeff Hardy during a TNA event in Chicago, saying one of his favourite memories came from watching the reaction backstage rather than what happened in the ring.
“My favorite moment has to be Chicago, Matt Hardy versus Moose, and we hit Jeff Hardy,” Dreamer said. “I was downstairs, it’s a smaller venue, and when I’m working, I’m all over the place. I just wanted to see all the boys watching Jeff Hardy.”
According to Dreamer, nobody in the locker room knew Hardy was in the building, making the surprise even more special.
“Nobody knew he was there, and when the music hit, I remember Leon Slater standing up, and he goes, ‘No way.'”
Dreamer said Leon Slater, who grew up as a fan of Hardy, couldn’t contain his excitement as the former world champion walked through the curtain.
“When Jeff walked out there, Leon started jumping up and down, and he was going, ‘No way, no way.’ And he starts high-fiving the other wrestlers, and they’re high-fiving,” Dreamer said. “We’re wrestlers, right? And he literally was jumping up and down because that was his favorite wrestler, and he got to be a fan again and freaking out.”
