PWInsider is reporting that Sami Callihan has also left TNA Wrestling.
Callihan retired from in-ring competition last year and has filled the role of producer since that time.
Also today, Tommy Dreamer on Busted Open Radiorevealed that he has cut ties with TNA.
“To steal something from Larry David or Jerry Seinfeld, I’m a real good breaker upper. All relationships come to an end and yesterday I had a great conversation with Carlos Silva and me and TNA are no longer in a relationship. We’ve mutually agreed to part ways…I’m crying because I loved going to work, and I loved the people I worked with. There was a lot of really special people. I created so many moments, I have so many highlights. When my mom died it was the saddest day of my life and I came on this show and wrestling helped me. Right from there, I literally jumped on a plane and TNA got me through that,” he said.
Matt Hardy responded on his YouTube channel to Dreamer’s departure.
“That is significant. And, no, I was not aware of it. So that is also breaking news to me. It’s interesting. It’s intriguing. I certainly enjoyed working with Tommy. I enjoyed working with Tommy all the way back to the House of Hardcore days whenever he was doing that [indie] show. I always thought he had a good pulse on kind of where pro wrestling, where it is and where it’s going. He stayed pretty current with things but things change. I got lots of love for Tommy, man. No doubt about it and I loved working with Tommy. Really enjoyed working with Tommy and very interesting to see what happens next now at TNA,” he said.
Word is that Delirious will head up TNA Creative.
Addressing all of the recent departures, TNA put out their own statement today.
TNA Wrestling today announced a workforce reduction, designed to streamline operations and sharpen strategic focus and profitability. TNA’s creative leadership team will see an immediate shift. Tommy Dreamer, who has worked in TNA’s Creative and Talent Relations Departments, is leaving the company as TNA and Dreamer mutually agreed to part ways. TNA Wrestling also has come to terms on the release of Tessa Blanchard. We wish Tessa, Tommy and others the best in their future endeavors.
Over the past few months, other stars to leave have included Steve Maclin, Myla Grace and Dani Luna.
