TNA Impact made its long-awaited AMC debut on Thursday night and delivered a show stacked with surprises, title changes, debuts and a major world championship shock to close the broadcast.
AJ Styles kicked off Impact, welcoming fans to the “house he built” and leading the crowd in a loud TNA chant before the opening contest erupted into a wild six-man brawl. The Hardys and Elijah battled Order 4’s Jason Hotch, John Skyler and Mustafa Ali, with action spilling all over the ring from the opening bell.
The closing stretch saw Tasha Steelz attempt to interfere, only for Matt Hardy to hit dual Twists of Fate, leaving Jeff Hardy free to land a Swanton Bomb on Hotch for the three count. The celebration was brief. Special Agent 0 blindsided Elijah and flattened the Hardys, only to be confronted by Vincent and Dutch. The staredown turned into a betrayal when Dutch and Vincent attacked Matt and Jeff, chaining Jeff’s earlobe to a ring post before Vincent vowed that The Righteous would dethrone the champions.
Backstage, AJ Styles confronted Frankie Kazarian and made it clear his eyes are firmly set on the TNA World Championship.
Santino Marella addressed the live crowd, admitting personal turmoil since his daughter Arianna Grace turned her back on him. Marella revealed TNA management felt he needed help, leading to the surprise arrival of former WWE star Daria Rae. Rae praised TNA’s AMC milestone before tearing into Marella and declaring she was there to bring structure.
Rae announced her first piece of business, revealing the signing of new Knockout Elyana Black.
The Elegance Brand, accompanied by Perez Hilton, challenged The IInspiration for the Knockouts Tag Team titles. Cassie Lee and Jessie McKay struck first, but distractions proved costly. After the referee missed a potential winning pinfall, Mr Elegance interfered, chop-blocking Lee’s leg behind the official’s back and allowing M By Elegance to steal a roll-up victory.
The Elegance Brand left with the titles, confirming reports that The IInspiration were finishing up with TNA.
Santino introduced Knockouts World Champion Lei Ying Lee, who revealed that Dani Luna has not been medically cleared to compete at TNA Genesis. Lee issued an open challenge, immediately answered by visiting NXT stars Sol Ruca and Zaria. Ruca nominated Zaria for the title shot, and Zaria signed the contract on Marella’s back, making the match official for Saturday.
The System addressed their future, with JDC announcing that Genesis would mark his retirement match against Eddie Edwards. JDC promised the group would evolve, hinting at a replacement still to come. TNA President Carlos Silva then introduced Dixie Carter, whose cameo drew Bully Ray to commentary for the main event.
Mike Santana challenged Frankie Kazarian for the TNA World Championship in a dramatic, physical encounter. The match escalated through near falls, eye rakes, Spanish Flys and repeated attempts at Santana’s Spin The Block. Kazarian tried to steal a win with belt shots and Fade To Black, but Santana survived every attempt. After multiple reversals, Santana connected clean with Spin The Block to claim the pinfall and capture the TNA World title.
TNA Impact closed with Santana celebrating his championship win as the company’s new AMC era began in full force.
