The card for WWE NXT Great American Bash continued to take shape on Tuesday night, with three more matches confirmed for the June 28 event.
The biggest development saw Tavion Heights earn a shot at the WWE NXT North American Championship. Heights defeated Jackson Drake in a number one contender’s match after interference from the rest of Vanity Project backfired. As Drake’s allies attempted to tip the scales in his favour, NXT North American Champion Myles Borne ran to the ring to even the odds and help his longtime friend.
With the distraction neutralised, Heights capitalised by delivering a belly-to-belly suplex to score the victory and secure a championship opportunity. The post-match celebration was short-lived, however. Although Borne raised Heights’ hand following the win, Heights made it clear he did not appreciate the assistance, creating further tension between the two ahead of their title clash.
More Matches Confirmed For WWE NXT Great American Bash
Another match confirmed for the Great American Bash will see Dion Lennox face Saquon Shugars. The bout stems from DarkState’s recent betrayal of their former stablemate. Since the split, Shugars has repeatedly targeted the group and made it clear he is seeking revenge against those who turned on him.
A WWE Women’s Speed Championship match was also added to the show. Champion Wren Sinclair will defend her title against either Izzi Dame or Arianna Grace, who are scheduled to meet next week to determine the challenger.
The latest additions join two previously announced championship matches. NXT Champion Tony D’Angelo is set to defend his title against Naraku, while NXT Women’s Champion Lola Vice will put her championship on the line against Kendal Grey.
