WWE NXT star Thea Hail has spoken out about the criticism she received following her championship victory in WWE.
Thea Hail recently shared a video on social media addressing the backlash that followed her NXT Women’s North American Championship win in late 2025. The young wrestler said that while she tries to remain positive, the volume of negative comments surrounding the title run eventually became difficult to ignore.
Hail defeated Blake Monroe on the December 16 episode of NXT to win the Women’s North American Title; however, the title switch was not supposed to happen, and following a senton that Hail landed on Monroe, Monroe did not kick out as the referee counted three, prompting an impromptu title switch.
Some fans blamed Monroe for failing to kick out; others blamed referee Felix Fernandez for counting to three despite that not being the planned finish; and others blamed Hail for landing hard on Monroe with the senton, which they believe may have affected Monroe’s ability to kick out of the pinfall attempt.
The criticism continued after Hail dropped the championship to Izzi Dame in January, with some fans celebrating the title change online.
Hail used the video to comment on the broader issue of negativity in professional wrestling discourse, acknowledging that social media reactions can sometimes overshadow performers’ accomplishments.
Thea Hail’s Future In WWE NXT
Despite the criticism, Thea Hail remains a prominent figure in the NXT women’s division as she continues pursuing another championship opportunity.
On the March 10 episode of NXT on The CW, Hail is scheduled to face Wren Sinclair in a match that will determine the next challenger for the WWE Women’s Speed Championship.
The winner of that bout will move on to face Fallon Henley, who has established herself as a dominant champion in the division.
That title match is currently scheduled for the March 17 episode of NXT, which will take place in Houston, Texas. For Hail, a victory over Sinclair and a potential championship win in Houston could mark a significant rebound after she lost her North American Title earlier this year.
