Ric Flair spoke about which fellow WWE Hall of Famer he had the “worst match of my life” with.
Ric Flair pulled no punches as he named The Ultimate Warrior as responsible for two of the worst matches of his illustrious career. During a 2017 episode of his podcast The Ric Flair Show, Flair painted a candid picture of how the clashes unfolded and how they impacted him.
Reflecting on a match in Winnipeg, Canada, while he was champion, Flair said:
“I’m wrestling the Warrior in Winnipeg [Canada], right? I’m the champion. And the match, Mike, was probably, the second worst match I ever had in my life.”
He then turned to an even more alarming match in Phoenix, Arizona, where he described a dangerous bump that left him with a lasting physical issue:
“The first being when I wrestled The Warrior in Phoenix [Arizona] and he dropped me on my head. Okay? So I came back from the ring. I knew the match was absolutely brutal. And Pat Patterson goes to me, ‘That was the worst f**king match I’ve ever seen in my life’. And I said, ‘You’re telling me, motherf**ker? I was in it!’”
Flair also pointed out problems with chemistry and preparation. He said the Warrior once sent him a three-page script to memorise, a method he didn’t believe in, and that the crowd simply didn’t respond to the match in the way he felt it should have.
Why Was Ric Flair Absent From AEW Blood & Guts?
Ric Flair was advertised to appear on the AEW Blood & Guts (2025) special, but he did not participate in the televised segment. He did, however, make a brief appearance for the live audience in Greensboro before leaving early.
Flair later issued a message on social media explaining that a rotator cuff injury forced his departure. He wrote:
“I Want To Apologize To Everyone For Having To Leave The @AEW Show Early Last Wednesday Due To My Rotator Cuff Injury.”
