The Sandman now knows who he will face in his retirement match this April.
The ECW legend previously announced that he would wrestle his final bout at Joey Janela’s Spring Break X, set for April 17 at the Horseshoe in Las Vegas. On social media, promoter Joey Janela revealed that The Sandman’s last opponent will be the Invisible Man.
The 62-year-old Sandman is a five-time former ECW World Champion and also held the ECW Tag Team titles with 2 Cold Scorpio. He later appeared in WWE’s ECW brand, teaming with the ECW Originals against The New Breed at WrestleMania 23.
His most recent match took place in October, when he teamed with Yaya the Gremlin to defeat Nyeim Brooks and Vincenzo at a GHW event in New Jersey.
The Invisible Man first appeared in DDT Wrestling in 2012, defeating Danshoku Dino in his debut. He later became a regular attraction at Game Changer Wrestling events, including multiple appearances at Spring Break shows, where he even won the Clusterf*ck match in 2019.
Sandman’s retirement bout is scheduled to take place during WrestleMania 42 weekend in Las Vegas.
Tickets for the event can be purchased here.
How Long Has The Sandman Been Wrestling?
The Sandman has been wrestling for 37 years, debuting in 1989 for the Philadelphia-based Tri-State Wrestling Alliance promotion as Mr Sandman. He joined the promotion where he would rise to fame, ECW, in 1992, originally under a surfer gimmick until 1994, when the then ECW owner, Ted Gordon, suggested he change his persona to a more edgier one based on his real-life personality.
