Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson will reportedly not be attending the upcoming UFC event scheduled for the White House South Lawn.
According to Vanity Fair, a source close to The Rock confirmed that the WWE icon and Hollywood star has declined an invitation to attend the June 14 event, which is being promoted as UFC Freedom 250.
The report also stated that representatives for Adam Sandler, Jared Leto and Mario Lopez confirmed that their clients will not be attending the show. Representatives for other invited celebrities either declined to comment or did not respond to requests for clarification.
Neither the White House nor UFC reportedly commented on the guest list when contacted by Vanity Fair.
Which Other Celebrities Besides The Rock Have Been Invited To UFC Freedom 250?
Details regarding the celebrity invitations were first revealed during a recent interview between TIME and UFC CEO Dana White. According to the report, White’s invite list included The Rock, Tom Brady, Jared Leto, Guy Ritchie, Adam Sandler, Jason Statham and Mario Lopez.
The event is expected to host approximately 4,300 spectators, with at least 1,200 tickets allocated to active-duty military personnel. The remaining seats will reportedly be divided among the White House, UFC and TKO Group Holdings.
TIME also reported that a separate viewing party will take place on the nearby Ellipse, where attendance could reach as many as 85,000 people. A performance by the Zac Brown Band is also planned for the evening before the event.
The June 14 card coincides with President Donald Trump‘s 80th birthday and is part of celebrations leading up to the 250th anniversary of the United States.
White has been heavily promoting the event, which is expected to feature a lightweight championship clash between Ilia Topuria and Justin Gaethje in the main event. He has also stated that UFC will cover the costs associated with staging the show.
While Johnson’s absence would remove one of the biggest celebrity names linked to the event, UFC Freedom 250 is still expected to attract significant attention as one of the promotion’s most ambitious cards to date.
