WWE Hall of Famer Tony Atlas once made a startling claim about one of his former colleagues, describing a deeply unpleasant experience during his time in the industry.
Speaking on Wrestling Shoot Interviews in 2023, Tony Atlas named the late Adrian Adonis as the most difficult and disturbing individual he encountered throughout his career. He did not hold back when reflecting on their time together, calling Adonis the most disrespectful and unhygienic person he had ever worked with.
“Now Adrian Adonis was the most disgusting individual I ever met in my life. The most disrespectful, most disgusting human being I’ve ever met in my life was Adrian Adonis.”
According to Atlas, Adonis frequently engaged in behaviour that he found shocking and deeply off-putting. He described repeated incidents of what he characterised as intentionally disgusting conduct, saying it went far beyond normal locker room antics and made being around him extremely uncomfortable.
Atlas said Adonis would deliberately act in ways meant to disturb those around him, recounting behaviour he described as unsanitary and offensive. While he stopped short of going into explicit detail, Atlas made it clear that the conduct left a lasting impression and contributed to his negative view of Adonis as a colleague.
“He would blow snot everywhere; he would put faeces on the wall, he was just nasty. He would sit at a table and spit food across the table, he would bend over and spread the cheeks of his butt and stick a cucumber up his rear end. He would make you vomit.”
The comments add to the long and often complicated legacy surrounding Adonis, a talented but controversial figure whose in-ring work has frequently been overshadowed by stories of his behaviour behind the scenes.
Did Tony Atlas And Adrian Adonis Ever Have Any Matches Together?
Yes, Tony Atlas and Adrian Adonis shared the ring on two occasions during both their tenures in WWE. Their first encounter was in a tag match on February 18, 1984, on an episode of WWF Wrestling At The Chase, where Adonis teamed with Dick Murdoch to challenge Atlas and Rocky Johnson for the WWF World Tag Team Championship.
Their other match was a singles match, which took place on WWF on MSG Network on August 25, 1986, and saw Adonis defeat Atlas in the bout.
Adrian Adonis’ life was tragically cut short on July 4, 1988, after a minivan containing Adonis, William Arko, Victor Arko, and Dave McKigney fell off a bridge into a creek in Lewisporte, Newfoundland, killing Adonis, Victor, and McKigney. William was the sole survivor of the crash and suffered severe leg injuries.
